I mean I passed and was accepted to med school so yeah they are pretty goodEDIT: The way I used these were to supplement my subject knowledge as I was reviewing with a Kaplan textbook. Therefore I would read a section then go through the cards on the section, writing down the terms and concepts I couldn't remember/was struggling with. Please be aware these are not 'normal' flashcards, each card has several terms/concepts so the entire set covers quite a bit of knowledge. This is not great for everyone if this is not how you best study you may find these time consuming and not overly useful. This is why I mainly used them to retouch the knowledge rather than spending all of my time going through every card and memorizing them. The most helpful aspect to me were the set of equations you need for the MCAT. I looked over those everyday up until the test. It's a very convenient/concise way to test yourself on the formulas you will need in half of the sections.Good luck to everyone, as an upcoming first year I am so glad to have the MCAT behind me but I remember the months of studying and stress so just remember to make yourself a time line that covers all the topics for the test and stick to it. :)
At a preliminary glance, these cards are very detailed and helpful. Can seem like a lot of information, but it's supposed to be a review, not your only course of studying. 10 cards a day is about the max in order to fully absorb and retail the information (i would honestly prob only do 5 cards a day). Highly suggest not looking into this until you're thoroughly reviewed the material as the bullet points contain a lot of information about each subject and can be very overwhelming (i made this mistake). Very compact in size and comes with one ring holder (wish it came with one for each subject). Cards are made of paper and a bit flimsy (they're as thin a regular index cards). Def can't just throw these in your purse or bag and expect them not to rip off the ring or crease. I suggest keeping them in a index card holder at all times if not in the box. Box is very sturdy. Includes tables of contents, cards are numbered, info about the authors, etc. Its like a study guide book in card form.
These are not FLASH-cards. These are NOTE-cards. A flash card is structured in the sense that one side is a term, the other the definition - so that your memory 'flashes' to the other side of the card when you're presented it. The Barron's cards are not structured like that at all. Unless the associated term/flash-side for Noiceceptor, Merkel's, or Ruffian Ending's is "#349 Sensory Systems and Anatomy: Biology." - That doesn't help me at all. So all the terms and definitions are just listed on one side of the card, the other is just a numbering system for the topics. If you're looking for a flash-card structured cards - THIS IS NOT THAT. This is a set of note-cards; so yes, you can study of them, as they have important terms and their definitions on them. But don't expect flash cards
This has been an extremely valuable resource in studying for the MCAT. As someone who has to study while maintaining a full-time job, I owe my entire medical degree to these flash cards. I highly recommend these to anyone who lives with a sporadic schedule but is still driven to execute the MCAT exam.
Great review cards. These are geared to prepare the student for the new formatted MCAT. These have a range of topics and information but are better to use after you have already had certain classes and/or done some preparation. The questions and answers are thorough and complicated so it's important that you understand the concepts of what you are studying. They are not meant to teach you subjects but test your knowledge on the ultra important sections of this exam. A MUST HAVE for aspiring med students.
Best MCAT note cards ever!!! Barron's notecard is hard paper and resistance to tear (unlike other flimsy paper note cards). Comes in a little convenient box for safe, easy opening. Also comes with a ring holder for holding note cards. In addition, the note cards are color labeled on top for easy identification on which section you are studying. Content wise the note cards does a pretty good job as a review, but should not be used for prime studying. Note cards mostly define terms, topics and vocabulary necessary to pass the MCAT. Prefect for passing time while riding on a bus or before sleeping at night.
these are NOT normal flash cards. they're more like study notes. they don't have a word and then the definition on the back. they'll have a concept on one side and then (fairly complicated and difficult to understand) notes on the other side. NOT recommended if you want a word/definition flash cards. these are ok if you're looking for notes so you don't have to write your own. even then, it's all in short hand and fairly hard to understand. 3 stars because it does have some good info and the cards are somewhat sturdy.
These flashcards are of fairly good quality.However, the content leaves something to be desired. Some of the definitions and equations have errors. For the social science (behaviorial/psych) flashcards, they sometimes choose fairly imprecise words, leaving you scratching your head for how to parse similar terms. I get that this is supposed to function as a review aid, but better to go with Kaplan.
