Only thing better is seeing the actual play
Fantastic play for a female to play if she wants to become a star. Truly amazing insight into the world of an addict.
Saw it in London and really enjoyed the script and performance. Great play!
This is an astonishing play that really tells so many truths about life's various addictions. Truly a beautifully crafted play. The main character, Emma, is a young actress with a clear addiction problem but as an actress her life is one of soul searching and role playing, so how does the normal rehab work for her. This is what the author so successfully explores in this play. Even her name changes during the course of the play from Nina from Checkov's play, The Sea Gull, to a hint of Hedda Gabbler to her real self. Well worth the time to read such an unusual portrayal of the rehab process.
A thoroughly engrossing play by Duncan Macmillan that I saw performed brilliantly on stage at London's Wyndham's Theatre. Emma, the lead character, was played with stunning conviction, passion, nuance, and intended distress by Denise Gough, as good an actress as you'll find anywhere. When, not if, this play comes across the Atlantic to New York City, the producers MUST bring Gough along to play Emma again. She's THAT good, and so is this play, easily one of the best I saw in 2016.
