This book is a must-have for anyone who goes cross-eyed looking at Microbiology charts and diagrams. For example, the Kreb's Cycle is broken down into simplified terms that are easy to connect to other lessons and you can build off that knowledge. It has a good flow, and seems to correlate subject matter from very broad into the more detailed aspects. The only downfall of the material, is that the book doesn't have colorful diagrams. They are pretty much all red and white, but this does not seem to affect understanding of the material at all. I personally have suggested this book to many people, all of which found it to be very helpful and easy to read. Great for high-school or college courses!
Very helpful. My professor took a leave of absence after the first 3 weeks of Microbiology and this book helped me pass the first test! It is laid out similar to my textbook which is nice. I find the book to break down difficult topics. The only thing I find odd is it is only in black and white with keywords in red. This makes them jump off the page, but its odd to me that the diagrams are also only in red, black and white. Regardless, the book is useful.
Extremely helpful. Makes micro easy to understand and enjoyable.Everything that is in my super expensive, overly complicated textbook was in this textbook. Depending on your professor and the structure of your class you will be able to get away with having this as your primary textbook. I am able to use it as my primary textbook in addition to the powerpoint slides that my professor hands out.I really wished I would have known about this book before I bought my overpriced textbook.
All I can say is I've looked through this book to get a head start on classes in a few weeks and it's very detailed and full of info so this is a great buy!!!!! Always good to have extra help in a class.
My grade has improved drastically while using this book. It was like my professor was speaking greek. This book explains things to where my child can understand it. Very helpful!!

Lots of information. Not the easiest to follow due to all the information. I bought this book because I thought it would be easy condensed info, but it's an overload of paragraph after paragraph. Opened once, and did some highlighting in a few pages, and never used again.
Biology, biochemistry and medical aspects. Appropriate for college level class. Missing here is all the ecological aspects of bacteria, a major part of life on the planet. Illustrations.Much better than the Dummies book.
